Robopipe is an open source project from Koala's workshop that will enhance the capabilities of your industrial machines and take them into the 21st century.

Take a picture, describe, train and run. Simple steps that can streamline the packaging of your products, identify objects that do not belong in the package, or count individual types of products on one strip for you. Use-cases are plentiful.

Object detection and counting play a vital role in many areas - from inventory control to production line monitoring to delivery verification. Traditional approaches based on manual checking and mechanical counting are often tedious, human-resource-intensive, and error-free. And that's why we developed Robopipe.

We help to see the machines

01

Object detection and counting

Machine vision systems are an attractive solution that ensures fast and reliable detection and counting of objects. Due to their speed and accuracy, they significantly outperform both manual and mechanical methods, resulting in greater efficiency and minimizing errors in these important processes.

02

Locating, Guiding and Positioning

A range of automated processes - from assembly to pick-and-place operations to inspection tasks - rely on machine vision's ability to accurately locate parts, whether they are moving down a conveyor or lying in a stack. Machine vision systems serve as guides for robots, allowing them to position parts accurately, down to the micron level. In addition, when the system detects that the part is misaligned, it can measure the difference between the desired and actual position and orientation, and immediately transmit this correction data to the robot or PLC control system to perform the correction.

03

Detection of defects

Defects can occur at any stage of production - from the processing of raw materials to the final inspection. Although checks were traditionally done manually (by eye), machine vision today greatly improves them. These systems can operate at the pace of the production line and provide steady, relentless performance. They detect even minor and unexpected defects, while at the same time collecting data to continuously improve processes - benefits that workers simply cannot achieve.

04

OCR/OCV and barcode reading

The system supports all kinds of characters and printing methods - from embossed and engraved markings to laser marking to inkjet printing. Detection works reliably under any conditions, regardless of the differences of the objects being monitored or changes in the environment.

In addition to the software solution, of course, we also thought of hardware. And the latter has high demands in industrial environments. That's why we chose Luxonis IP65 industrial AI camera for machine vision. This way the camera will work for you in cold and warm, dry and humid environments.
